Toons Bridge Dairy

We make mozzarella and many other Mediterranean style cheeses in The Old Creamery in Toons Bridge, Inchigeela, West Cork. We use buffalo milk from our herd of water buffalo and local cows milk from small family farms. West Cork is famous for its unique and ancient dairy culture, where the gulf stream washes the county with a benevolent climate ideal for pasture based agriculture. Toons Bridge Dairy follows natural and traditional techniques to make authentic and delicious products. They are sold presently within the island of Ireland. 


Buffalo Farm 


Water buffalo have been domesticated for thousands of years, gradually making their way west from the Indian Subcontinent to Western Europe. Toons Bridge Dairy in 2009 had the 'bright' idea to import water buffalo to Ireland and now milk around 70 in West Cork. Buffalo are beautiful, intelligent yet sensitive animals that also can have a fantastically destructive streak! Farming them is a challenging yet highly rewarding full time activity! Normal farming equipment that works with cows often needs reinforcing or replacing and all of our gates have double latches as they can use their horns to open or remove most security features!
